Please join us to see A Leap of Faith at the cozy Island ETC Theatre in the Strand District of Galveston. This musical is about the "Reverend" Jonas Nightingale, an electrifying performer and con artist, who pitches a tent and invites the locals to a revival. The sheriff, a woman named Marla McGowan, is determined to stop Jonas from separating the townspeople from their money, and Jonas' real challenge arises when he meets the sheriff and her son, whose love forces an ultimate cynic to take a real leap of faith.
Prior to the play, we will have dinner at Katie’s Seafood House specializing in locally sourced seafood dishes right on the waterfront. We have allowed extra time between dinner and the play to avoid being rushed for dinner and time to shop in some Strand stores if desired.
We will depart from the church at 3:30 pm on Friday, March 28.
The cost is only $27 for the play tickets and is nonrefundable.
We hope to see you there! As always, All parishioners age 50+ are welcome.

Our next bus trip is to the Beaumont-Port Arthur area on Friday, April 11. We will first stop at the Beaumont Botanical Gardens. Developed by the Beaumont Council of Garden Clubs for the citizens of southeast Texas over fifty years ago the gardens now host visitors from all over the world. In addition to the outside grounds the 10,000 square foot Warren Loose Conservatory, containing a vast array of tropical and other exotic plants, can boast being one of the largest conservatories in a public garden in Texas. After lunch at the nearby Cracker Barrel, we will go to downtown Port Arthur to tour the Museum of the Gulf Coast, which tells the exciting story of the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast region, beginning with paleontology and biology. Permanent exhibits include a section on Native Americans, European contact, the Civil War, economic and cultural growth, the petroleum industry, and the maritime history of the region. The Museum’s second floor is dedicated to the many internationally-recognized musicians and athletes – Jimmy Johnson, Janis Joplin, Babe Zaharias, The Big Bopper, etc. – who call the Gulf Coast home.
We will depart from the church at 8:00 am and return at about 5:30 pm depending on the traffic. Note that the garden walks and museum viewing involve a fair amount of walking. The cost is $5.
