Happy Autumn everyone, this is Nicky Scott, your new 50+Bus Trip Coordinator, and Audrey Nelson, co-coordinator.
It's that time of year when we begin our monthly bus trips to new and exciting places. For our September trip we are going to the Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park, right here in Houston!

Experience the old world charm of Newman’s Castle, a one-of-a-kind custom creation hidden just outside of Bellville in the beautiful rolling countryside of Texas. The castle features a “moat” with a massive working 3000 lb drawbridge with an accompanying portcullis, a chapel, five round corner turrets, a courtyard, and a central “Keep" with a dramatic view of the surrounding countryside. The castle also has a perimeter wall.
Newman’s Bakery is a short distance drive away in the town of Bellville where they have a huge variety of delicious pastries to take home or enjoy on the trip back to Houston.
Bellville’s famous (to us Texan’s) Meat Market is also close by and is home to the award winning Poffenberger’s Smoked Sausage and other outstanding mouth watering meats. Bring a small insulated bag to carry your goodies home.
We will leave St. Catherine’s at 9:15am to arrive at the castle by 10:30am check in. There will be an introduction to the castle and story/history starting at 11:00am, after that is a self guided tour of approximately 1-1.5 hours followed by lunch provided at the castle. Then onto Bellville for some culinary shopping, and home to Houston.
Sign up is due by November 7, 2025.
Please plan on getting to St. Catherine's 15 minutes before we are due to leave so that you can get yourselves sorted and use the facilities if need be.
We hope to see you there! As always, All parishioners age 50+ are welcome.
Contact Nicky at scotts503@currently.com if you have any questions.

Come celebrate Christmas with Charlie Brown and the Gang in the stage adaptation by Eric Schaeffer of A Charlie Brown Christmas at Queensbury Theatre in Town and Country/City Centre.
The classic animated television special comes to life in the faithful stage adaptation in which Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang discover the true meaning of Christmas.
Early dinner 5pm at (local establishment TBD) so we can enjoy dinner without being rushed, and then to the theatre by 6:30pm for show time at 7pm.
We currently have 20 seats reserved in the orchestra section for a discounted rate. It will be first come, first reserved; so let me know early if you will be joining the St. Catherine’s gang.
