From Nicky Scott, your new 50+Bus Trip Coordinator, and Audrey Nelson, co-coordinator

Have you ordered something from Amazon lately and the website states you can have it delivered in the next three hours if you order within the hour?? We all have, and do you ever wonder how that happens? Now is your opportunity to find ou!
For our August bus trip, we will visit a Houston Fulfillment Center and observe the process of procuring your item along with how it is packaged, and getting it to you. The tour is approximately 60-90 minutes long. On the tour you may walk up and down at least one flight of stairs and walk approximately one mile (don’t let that put you off. You probably do it on a grocery shopping trip and not realize it).
Amazon has safety and security requirements for the tour and those are:
We depart from the church at 10:30am for an early lunch at 11am at Saltgrass Willowbrook, and then onto the fulfillment center by 12:45pm. The tour starts at 1:00pm promptly. We should be back to the church around 3:00pm.
There is NO cost for the tour. Lunch is your own cost.
There are 20 spots reserved for our group. I need confirmed participation by August 14, so that I can let Amazon know, and they can make ready the required number of badges with names.
Please plan on getting to St. Catherine's 15 minutes before we are due to leave so that you can get yourselves sorted and use the facilities if need be.
We hope to see you there! As always, All parishioners age 50+ are welcome.

(Rescheduled from June) If you ever wanted to know what’s in the swamp land between Texas and Louisiana, this trip is for you and scheduled for Wednesday, October 28 to Orange, Texas. The tour is about 1.5 hours through twenty-five miles of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana Sabine River Basin outback (you will not need your passports). You will see eagles, blue herons, egrets, and yes alligators, along with moss-laden trees and other types of vegetation. The riverboat sits high in the water and is Coast Guard certified with life jackets, and a top to protect us from the sun. No food on the boat, however, DO BRING your water bottle. Capacity is limited to 18, so get your name in early if this is the trip for you.
We depart from the church at 9:00am and have a late lunch at 11am at Old Orange Cafe Restaurant. We should be back to the church around 6:00pm.
Cost for the tour is $27 not including lunch. Lunch is your own cost.

Did you know that there is a Danish Community south of Houston in a town called Danevang, Texas? Joine us for a Danish country lunch and guided tour of the Danish Museum.
The community started as a colonial effort in 1894, and only colonial area of a Danish settlement in the state. The community's unique identity stems from the original settlers who migrated from the American Midwest at the end of the 19th century to establish a new home. Much of the local character is preserved through the Danevang Lutheran Church and a distinctive obelisk on the church grounds that documents the triumphs and tragedies of the early pioneers. The local cemetery tombstones serve as a historical record, being almost entirely inscribed in Danish.
The Museum contains artifacts and exhibits related to the everyday lives of the pioneer settlers of Danevang. The first exhibits near the entrance stress the ties that still exist with the Mother Country of Denmark, and the Viking influence from the early years of the second millennium.
Lunch is part of the visit and is family style' consisting of Danish Meatballs, potatoes, vegetables, bread and dessert.
We depart from the church at 9:45 am and be back to St Catherine’s by 3:30 pm.
Cost for the tour is $25.
Please plan on getting to St. Catherine's 15 minutes before we are due to leave so that you can get yourselves sorted and use the facilities if need be.
We hope to see you there! As always, All parishioners age 50+ are welcome.
